Le Clos is a special, limited-edition release from Lanson, which showcases the exceptional quality of a single vineyard. The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes harvested from the one-hectare walled vineyard ‘Clos Lanson’ in the city of Reims. This plot is unique due to its location within the city and its specific microclimate, which contributes to the distinct character of the wine. On the nose, the 2009 vintage offers aromas of green apple, pear, citrus, and floral notes, accompanied by hints of brioche, toasted nuts, and minerality. The palate displays a lively acidity, fine bubbles, and flavours of ripe orchard fruits, lemon zest, and a touch of honey, with a long, elegant finish.

Richly layered and generous with finely balanced acidity and beautiful texture; crisp pear, apple, saffron, grilled almond and brioche; the chalky, saline finish is elegant. Produced from carefully tended, one-hectare plot on chalky hill in Reims. Vinified in barrels, no malolactic fermentation. Disgorged July 2022 with 3 grams per liter of dosage. 7545 bottles produced. — Suzanne Mustacich, 27th January 2026

Clos de Lanson 2009 Blanc de Blancs comes from Lanson’s Clos located in Reims. Barrel fermented and aged 12 years on lees, with an additional 6 months of bottle age before release. This Clos de Lanson is made to an Extra Brut style with three gram per liter dosage. Elegantly sculpted and precise, it is redolent of ripe stone fruit, preserved lemons, marzipan, croissant, and vanilla bean. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture, the palate offers a pure expression of ripe citrus fused with chalky acidity, and a finish that is long, fresh and just a little toasty. — Sarah Mayo, 8th November 2023

The 2009 Blanc de Blancs Clos Lanson is an extra brut and was disgorged in May 2022 with three grams per liter. It reveals a vibrant, bright bouquet with aromas of menthol, lemon oil, grapefruit, spring flowers and orchard fruits. Medium to full-bodied, lively and chiseled, it’s more tense and refined than its 2018 counterpart, concluding with a lively, penetrating and mouthwatering finish. This represents a shift in style due to the third year of biodynamic practices which bring a finely honed texture and a more vibrant acidity. — Yohan Castaing, 16th November 2023

From Lanson`s special one-hectare Chardonnay vineyard in the middle of Reims. Vinified in oak barrels – no malo – and aged for 12 years before disgorgement in May 2022 with a dosage of 3 g/l. Very heavy bottle! I hope they are now using lighter ones …Pale straw. Really intense nose and a most unusual mix of the high acidity of youth with a very mature nose (2009 was of course very ripe). Very interesting wine with more than a hint of white burgundy, even a vague suggestion of Corton-Charlemagne. Really rather delicious! A great wine at the table, I should imagine. Very distinctive. And really exciting on the finish. Really spreads across the palate. (JR)
