Owned by the by the influential Boisset family, Domaine de la Vougeraie is a prestigious Burgundy wine producer that only emerged in 1999. This exquisite Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is sourced from two meticulously tended plots encompassing a total surface area of 1.052 hectares within the esteemed vineyard. The 2021 vintage, aged for 16 months in oak barrels (28% new), is still in its youthful stage, revealing a captivating floral character intertwined with luscious purple fruit, earthy nuances, and hints of anise. A wine that promises a bright future as it continues to evolve.
Vinous
- The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru feels a little earthy and stemmy on the nose, though it is completely de-steamed; light floral scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly stemmy opening, moderate depth and a little dryness towards the finish. I'm not quite convinced by this Clos Vougeot and actually err towards some of Vougeraie's better Premier Crus.
