The Clos de Vougeot Prieuré-Roch 2013 is a full-bodied Grand Cru wine from the commune of Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. The nose is characterised by earthy undertones, with hints of black cherry and forest floor. On the palate, it presents a robust structure with firm tannins and a slightly savoury profile. This wine encapsulates the essence of its prestigious terroir, known for producing nuanced Burgundian expressions. Prieuré-Roch is an iconic Burgundy producer that emphasises minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar.

Prieure Roch

A Burgundian Titan

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, whose family are part-owners of the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieure Roch produce wine from vineyard parcels in communes as diverse as Ladoix, Chambertin, Vosne Romanée and Savigny Les Beune. Farming of the vineyards is done to organic standards, veering towards full biodynamics in some instances and cellar techniques are strictly traditional - vinified in large wooden vats, manual punching down and without the use of sulphur.

Wines are kept in barrel for 12-24 months before bottling, although some experiments with extended ageing have taken place - most notably in 2002. These are elegant wines with the ripeness and poise that one would expect from a family that also produce arguable some of the world's great Pinot Noir.
