Méo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot 1990 is a mature-vintage Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Clos de Vougeot in the Vougeot commune of the Côte de Nuits. Based in Vosne-Romanée, Méo-Camuzet produces some of the most sought-after wines from the Côte d`Or. Founder Étienne Camuzet was both a vigneron as well as a dedicated politician who spent most of his time in Paris. Today, the estate boasts 14 hectares of vines in very prestigious appellations and crus in Burgundy. Since 1989, the estate has been overseen by Jean-Nicolas Méo. Located near the château, Méo`s plot in the Clos de Vougeot dates to Etienne Camuzet’s purchase in 1920 and the average vine age is 60 years. "This is still relatively youthful with only traces of sous bois on the otherwise mature but fresh earthy burg aromas that are followed by rich, round and still relatively firm medium-bodied flavours that offer good if not exceptional complexity and very fine length. For my taste, this has arrived at its peak though it will be more than capable of holding for another 20 years and thus there is clearly no rush to drink up. In sum, this is a very good if not exceptional effort for the vintage." Burghound, 2010
