Founded in 1880 and remaining under family ownership, Joseph Drouhin stands as one of the Burgundy region`s most established names. For over 140 years, the domaine has produced a diverse array of wines, ranging from intricate and age-worthy Grand Crus to approachable, easy-drinking Bourgogne. This offering comes from Clos de Vougeot, a Grand Cru vineyard where Drouhin owns two parcels. The 2010 vintage has matured into a splendid wine, characterized by hints of violet spice and crushed cherry fruit. Medium-bodied with an ethereal quality and well-balanced acidity, it culminates in a finish that maintains a classic tautness while displaying delightful floral undertones.

Vinous
The 2010 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru does not fully deliver the same delineation as the Méo-Camuzet tasted alongside. Yet, there is a beguiling purity here with raspberry, red cherry and crushed stone that turns into more bergamot and rosehip with time. The palate is medium-bodied, poised and structured, less open than expected, tightening up towards the finish. Give this another couple of years. Tasted at the Clos Vougeot tasting at Château de la Tour. Neal Martin1st March 2023
