Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Clos de Vougeot 1999 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru of Clos de Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. Yves Confuron traces his viticultural roots to the 17th century and produces defiantly traditional Burgundy wines from his family domaine. With dialled down oak yet bold ripe flavours derived from late picking, his Grands Crus spend around 18 months in barrel before bottling and reward long-term ageing. "Full, saturated ruby. Rich, chocolatey aromas of black cherry and black raspberry. Fat, rich and chocolatey, with enticing oak scents and a complicating gamey aspect. Very sweet and very rich. The wine high-pH feel makes it accessible already. Finishes with substantial broad-but-sweet tannins and excellent length. A lot of wine here." International Wine Cellar, 2002
