Clos de Vougeot Domaine Leroy 2006 is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. Lalou Bize-Leroy is known for her extreme biodynamic practices and commitment to low yields, producing wines of peerless intensity and aromatic complexity. This 2006 release features an expansive, kaleidoscopic nose of dark berries, forest floor, exotic spice, leather and truffles. The palate is broad, incredibly dense and seamless, with a haunting, mineral-driven persistence that defines the unique character of Leroy’s wines, representing the pinnacle of Burgundy production.

Good full, bright red. Soil-inflected nose hints at black cherry, redcurrant, menthol and earth. At once powerful and austere, with strong acid spine and peppery thrust to the black fruit and floral flavors. The ripe tannins coat the molars, but this very long and precise wine offers superb finesse.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2009

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
