Located in the northern part of Morey-Saint-Denis, Clos de la Roche is one of the 33 Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. Estates with major holdings in the vineyard include Domaine Ponsot, Domaine Armand Rousseau and Domaine Dujac, which owns 1.46 hectares of vines here. The 2007 vintage produced low yields but wines of textbook balance, charm and depth.

Medium red. Candied red fruits, brown spices and an earthy perfume on the nose. Broad, sweet and ripe, showing more spices and soil tones than primary fruit today. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins. This is almost deceptively easygoing for a young Clos de la Roche. Although tastable today, this should be better in six years. But I'm not getting quite the freshness of fruit and nerve in some of these 2007s as I did in the 2006s a year ago.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2010

A great bottle just coming into its prime to prove the allure of this vintage. Lovely seamless texture and great, subtle undertow. Fabulous freshness and precision. (JR)Jancis Robinson22nd June 2017

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
