Clos de la Roche Armand Rousseau 2009 hails from the esteemed Domaine Armand Rousseau, situated in Gevrey-Chambertin. The domaine encompasses more than 15 hectares, with a significant portion dedicated to Grand Cru sites. The 2009 vintage Clos de la Roche offers a nuanced profile, characterised by its floral aromas and pronounced acidity. The wine`s interplay of silky tannins and a vibrant fruit core reflects the estate`s meticulous approach, incorporating whole-cluster fermentation. Rousseau has maintained its reputation for excellence since its founding, continuing to set benchmarks within the region.

Medium pale red. Cool, nuanced nose offers black cherry, blackberry, mocha, licorice, wildflowers and illegal herbs. Supple and fine-grained on entry, then more tightly knit in the middle than the Mazy, with good penetration to its dark fruit, herb and licorice flavors. The darkest, coolest and most medicinal of the 2009s I samped from Rousseau. Finishes with suave, dusty tannins and lovely persistence.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2012
