Domaine de la Vougeraie Chevalier-Montrachet 2022 is a full-bodied Grand Cru white Burgundy from the climat of Chevalier-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. Located in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet was matured for 16 months in oak barrels (none new) and a further two months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
Vinous
The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has far superior delineation and terroir expression than the Bâtard or Bienvenue - this oozes quality with touches of yellow fruit, fern and crushed stone. The palate is well-balanced with a silver bead of acidity. It is very focused, perhaps not quite as saline as the very best examples, yet the finish feels very persistent.
