Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded in 1999 by Jean-Charles Boisset, the flamboyant wine entrepreneur who currently operates a total of 28 wineries across California, France and Canada. With holdings in some of the most prestigious appellations of Burgundy, viticulture and winemaking is meticulous and is both organic and biodynamic. The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a superb wine that combines aromas of lemon, orange oil, warm bread crust and acacia blossom. The palate is dense and precise, leading to an extremely long finish.
Vinous
The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a disturbing deep colour. Bready and toasty on the nose with mild oxidation, the palate is ponderous and lacks tension. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Neal Martin22nd November 2022

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
