Domaine du Vieux-Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1997 is a mature, full-bodied red wine produced in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the southern Rhône Valley. Owned by the Brunier family for more than 100 years, Vieux Télégraphe is one of the most celebrated domaine`s of the southern Rhône, offering extraordinary terroir expression and varietal typicity, with an emphasis on Grenache. "Fine aromas of aged Châteauneuf. undergrowth, olive, polished wood. Lovely freshness and so finely balanced with the ageing fruit flavours filling out the dry but fully resolved tannins." Jancis Robinson MW, 2012

Medium plummy red. Open nose combines red plum, redcurrant, tobacco, cinnamon and earth, plus hints of chocolate and licorice. Round and gentle in the mouth, with good balance for the vintage but only moderate depth of flavor and structure. Fairly tannic finish, but the tannins are fine. Will provide early pleasure.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2000

Under the stewardship of the Brunier family, Vieux Télégraphe has maintained a commitment to traditional winemaking, allowing the terroir to shine through in every vintage.

The estate’s wines, particularly the iconic La Crau, are celebrated for their complexity, structure, and ability to age gracefully over decades. Whether you’re enjoying a young vintage or one with years of bottle age, Vieux Télégraphe’s wines offer a profound expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s storied terroir.
