Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 2010 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine de Marcoux has been elevated to Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge`s very highest echelon thanks to the tireless work of sisters Sophie and Catherine Armenier. The domaine`s comes from three separate plots of very old vines – Charbonnière (close to La Crau), Gallimardes and Esqueirrons. The blend is mostly Grenache from 100 to 110-year-old vines with a small amount of Cinsault and other traditional varieties. "This is distinctive, compelling Chateauneuf du Pape that comes from their oldest vines, located in three of the best lieux-dits in Chateauneuf du Pape – La Crau in the eastern sector, Gallimardes in the south and Esquirons in the middle. This wine has wonderfully silky tannin, but it is definitely noticeable, and I suspect 3-5 years of cellaring is warranted. It should drink well for 20-25 years at the minimum." Wine Advocate, 2011
