Vieilles Vignes is Domaine de Marcoux’s flagship cuvée, made with Grenache from special selected plots, Charbonnières and Les Esqueirons. Grapes are destemmed, crushed and fermented with native yeasts. On the nose, this 2004 bottle is filled with blackberries, blueberries and cassis, intermixed with black truffle and floral notes. Moderately firm tannins give it a more structured feel than the regular bottling and the wine reveals remarkable purity, texture and length.

Dark red. Incredibly fragrant nose offers intense scents of raspberry, blackberry and kirsch underscored by a vibrant mineral tone. Lush, creamy and very sweet, with strong red and dark fruit flavors, exotic spice accents and a smooth, velour-like texture. Whatever tannins this might have are completely absorbed by the deep, concentrated fruit. Finishes very sweet, with exceptional length and bright mineral lift.Josh Raynolds1st January 2007
