Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes Janasse 2012 showcases a blend predominantly featuring Grenache, complemented by Mourvèdre and Syrah. This vintage is recognised for its robust profile characterised by ripe black and blue fruits, along with subtle floral notes and hints of earthiness. Aged in oak, it reveals a full-bodied texture with a marked freshness, distinguishing it from more powerful vintages. This wine is produced by Domaine de la Janasse, a respected family estate known for meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques. Ideal for cellaring, it can be enjoyed until 2032.

Vinous
Inky ruby. Explosive aromas of dark berry preserves, incense and lavender, with a smoky overtone and bright minerality. Pliant and seamless in the mouth, offering intense, palate-staining cassis and blueberry flavors that are energized by juicy acidity. Shows real power and focus on the strikingly long finish, which features velvety tannins and a hint of candied flowers. There's 15% alcohol here, which is actually quite low for this bottling, and I don't detect any undue heat.Josh Raynolds1st April 2015
