Domaine Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2006 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine Janasse is a well-regarded wine estate situated in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate was founded in 1973 by Aimé Sabon, and it is now run by his children, Christophe and Isabelle Sabon. Notes on the 2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape. "A bigger, richer wine than the Chaupin (which is normal), the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vieilles Vignes comes from the La Janasse and La Crau lieux-dits, and is 80% Grenache and the balance Syrah and Mourvèdre; the Grenache is raised in foudres and demi-muids, and the Syrah and Mourvèdre are raised in small barrels. Full-bodied, rich, decadent and unctuous on the palate, this beauty gives up fabulous notes of dark fruits, dusty soil, liquorice, roasted herbs and toasted spice." Wine Advocate, 2016

Vinous
Ruby-red. Fresh red berry and floral aromas are complicated by smoky minerals and baking spices. Blackberry and kirsch on the palate, framed by dusty tannins. Finishes with gentle sweetness and very good clarity, with the smoky note repeating.Josh Raynolds1st January 2009
