Established in 1973, Domaine de la Janasse is run by brother-and-sister team Christophe and Isabelle Sabon. The estate`s flagship cuvée Vieilles Vignes comes from four parcels located on different terroirs, and it is a Grenache-dominant blend. Spices, liquorice and garrigue emanate from the glass. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and brilliantly crafted, with a serious structure and concentration.

Vinous
Ruby-red. Roasted red plum, cherry liqueur and grilled meat on the nose; superripe but not over the top. Then thick, sweet, deep and young, with a compelling flavor of creme de cassis Powerful, dense, classic grenache en surmaturite Finishes with explosive length and lush, very fine tannins. Amazingly ripe, but wears its high alcohol gracefully. Stephen Tanzer1st January 2004
