Domaine La Roquete – now operating under the name Domaine du Pégaü – is a well-regarded winery in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region. L`Accent de la Roquete is a premium cuvée crafted from a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grapes, sourced from old vines in the estate`s vineyards. On the nose, the wine exudes complex aromas of ripe black and red fruits, such as blackberries, cherries, and plums, along with hints of garrigue, black pepper, leather and earthy undertones. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a silky texture, offering a harmonious balance between fruit, acidity and well-integrated tannins.

Bright red. Dark berries and cherry on the nose, with complicating garrigue, licorice and olive nuances. Fleshy, pure red and dark berry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins and clench up with air. The finish hints at sweetness but this is a rather tough read today. (Incidentally, this domain was previously called Domaine La Roquette; its reds are now labeled Domaine La Roquete, while its white wine is called Clos La Roquete.)Josh Raynolds1st January 2009
