Châteauneuf-du-Pape Julien Barrot Barroche 2023 is an expressive blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault sourced from the estate`s oldest plots. Julien Barrot aims to showcase the distinctive terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, emphasising minimal intervention in vinification. The estate`s vines benefit from the region`s unique galets roulés and a warm Mediterranean climate, enhancing the fruit`s ripeness. This vintage presents a structured profile, characterised by spice and herbaceous notes, with a firm tannic backbone. It is designed for ageing, promising complexity and evolution with time in the bottle.

Robert Parker
A perfumed, ambitious bouquet of red berries, dark wild berries, peonies, cassis and flowers introduces the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Julien Barrot, a medium- to full-bodied, sappy and layered wine with a fleshy core of fruit enhanced by a tensile profile framed by velvety tannins and concluding with a long, ethereal and floral finish. A blend of 61% Grenache Noir, 11% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 7% Counoise, 5% Cinsault and 1% Clairette Rose, it was partially destemmed and matured for 18 months in a combination of foudres (62%), large barrels (33%) and concrete tanks (5%). This is a superb effort and a graceful wine that should improve with time in the cellar. - Yohan Castaing
