The Ermitage Le Méal Chapoutier 2008 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Syrah wine from the northern Rhône Valley. This wine emerges from a challenging harvest in the northern Rhône. The wine presents complex aromas of spiced meats, saddle leather and subtle incense, accompanied by notes of dark berry fruit. Its palate is medium to full-bodied, showcasing a structured profile with fine tannins. The purity of fruit reflects the meticulous viticultural practices of Chapoutier, a pioneering winery known for its biodynamic methods and commitment to expressing terroir.

Good dark red. Rather sauvage aromas of roasted plum, leather and animal fur; seems more aromatically evolved than the '99, even allowing for the extra year of age. Rich and thick in the mouth, with a confectionery, sappy sweetness. This is denser than the '99. The rich tannins coat the mouth and the finishing fruit builds slowly and subtly.
