Deep, dark red. Multidimensional bouquet of kirsch, cassis, red plum, pipe tobacco, grilled meat, licorice pastille and roasted coffee; this has nearly all of the Chateauneuf food groups. Utterly mouthfilling in its richness, with tremendous concentration of red and dark berries, garrigue, bittersweet chocolate and aged beef. Finishes with a velvety lushness, round tannins and palate-staining persistence. A simply remarkable wine: it finished at 16.2% but the alcohol only shows in the wine's unctuous, almost oily palate feel.Josh Raynolds1st January 2006

Domaine du Pegau

A Legacy of Tradition in Châteauneuf-du-Pape

In the sun-drenched vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Pegau stands as a testament to the power and complexity of Rhône Valley wines. Under the guidance of Laurence and Paul Féraud, the estate produces wines that are both rich and deeply expressive of their terroir. With vines averaging 50 years old, Pegau’s wines are renowned for their ability to age, developing layers of flavor that include dark fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. The Féraud family’s dedication to traditional winemaking techniques ensures that each vintage tells the story of the land, making Domaine du Pegau a cornerstone of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
