Eric Rodez Empreinte Noire 2013 is a blanc de noirs Champagne that reveals a remarkable expression of Pinot Noir sourced from five distinct plots in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. Crafted under organic and biodynamic practices, Rodez eschews trends and focuses heavily on terroir. Vinified entirely in oak barrels, this Champagne undergoes no malolactic fermentation, preserving its fresh character. The low dosage of 1.5g/l highlights the pure fruit essence. Eric Rodez, a pioneer of sustainable viticulture since 1984, continues to set standards for artisanal Champagne production.
94 Vinous
(100% grenache, raised in a combination of foudres and demi-muids): Opaque ruby. Pungent aromas of ripe red and blue fruits show liqueur-like power and depth. Large-scaled, expansive and rich, offering explosive raspberry and boysenberry flavors complemented by baking spices and mocha. Almost shockingly lively for such a big wine, finishing with impressive thrust and lingering florality. This wine tips the scales at almost 16% alcohol but I don't get any heat.Josh Raynolds1st January 2012
