Clos de L’Oratoire des Papes was acquired by Léonce Amouroux in 1926, though the estate itself predates his ownership. He named it after the nearby Oratory of the Popes, a historical monument in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today, the estate is owned by Maison Ogier, part of the Advini group, which specialises in Rhône Valley wines.
Clos de L’Oratoire des Papes is highly regarded for its terroir-driven approach, producing wines that reflect the diversity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s soils. The 2021 vintage is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, and 3% Cinsault, aged for 12 months in a combination of foudres and oak vats.

The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsaut. It displays moderately intense aromas of predominantly red fruits, slightly cooked, as well as some leafiness. Medium to full-bodied, the well-structured palate delivers juicy fruit. Balanced by fresh acidity, it concludes with a bright finish.
