Elégance du Clos Cantenac Rosé 2022 is a dry rosé wine produced in the Cantenac area of Margaux in of Bordeaux. Winemaker Charlotte Krajewski utilises traditional methods alongside modern techniques. This vintage is a varietal Merlot showcasing a delicate balance. The wine underwent fermentation in 700-litre concrete eggs, which impart a textured mouthfeel to complement its fresh fruit profile. On the nose, expect delicate yet expressive aromas of fresh red berries (wild strawberry, raspberry), grapefruit zest, and white flowers, often accompanied by subtle mineral notes. The palate is characterised by its crisp acidity, vibrant fruit purity and a lovely textural finesse.

The most classic and traditional in the lineup is easily the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes, which is 86% Grenache with the balance a split of Mourvèdre and Syrah, that was not destemmed and was aged in a combination of foudre, demi-muids and concrete tanks. This old-school beauty offers up sumptuous notes of smoked meats, leather, graphite, garrigue and hints of beef blood in a richly concentrated, structured, youthful yet certainly enjoyable profile. It’s not yet fully mature, but it’s getting close. I suspect when all is said and done, it will have three decades of overall longevity. - Jeb Dunnuck
