Domaine Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 2015 is a full-bodied white Burgundy from the Premier Cru climat of Morgeots in the Chassagne-Montrachet commune of the Côte de Beaune. Guided by organic farming in the vineyard and low-intervention principles in the cellar, Alex Moreau crafts barrel-aged Chardonnay`s of real distinction. Typically, the domaine`s wines are aged in French oak barrels (10%-50% new) for 12 to 20 months depending on the vineyard and vintage. This historic domaine was founded in 1809 by Auguste Moreau but it wasn`t until 1977 that its reputation was cemented under the leadership of Bernard Moreau (who, improbably, assumed that role at the tender age of 14). Bernard`s sons, Alex and Benoît, came onboard in the 1990s, and Alex is now in charge of winemaking and vineyard operations. "The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot is a stunning success, offering up a deep and already complex bouquet of pear, pastry cream, wheat toast, iodine, lemon oil and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, authoritative and multidimensional, with wonderful depth and dimension and considerable extract, underpinned by succulent acids, its finish long and mineral. This is an imposing Morgeot that captures the power while avoiding the corpulence of which this climat is capable." Wine Advocate, 2018
