Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot

While Chassagne-Montrachet is most readily associated with white wines (as one would expect from the ‘Montrachet’ appended to its name), much of the soil in the area is regarded as being better suited to red grapes, and thus Pinot Noir. This is certainly the case for the Premier Cru of Morgeot. The vineyard is is divided into 21 climats, some with a more elevated reputation than others. Wines produced in the climats of Les Fairendes and La Boudriotte, for example, are often labelled as such, whereas others will simply be labelled as Morgeot.
