Based in Chassagne-Montrachet, Fontaine-Gagnard is a family-run wine property with approximately 12 hectares of vineyards. It was formed in 1985 by Laurence Gagnard and her husband Richard Fontaine after Laurence inherited part of Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange. This release hails from La Romanée, a Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru where the estate owns a 0.36-hectare plot. The 2004 vintage reveals a lovely complex nose with lime, sea salt, tropical fruits, and a touch of vanilla. The palate is full bodied, with a creamy texture complemented by a slight limey tartness.

Pale color. Crushed stone and spices on the nose. Very firm flavors of lemon, lime and spice. A bit youthfully tough today and in need of a few years in bottle.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2006
