The origins of Maison Louis Jadot date back to 1859 when Louis Henry Denis Jadot set up as a merchant. Today, Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, with a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Crus. This release comes from the Chapelle-Chambertin vineyard, situated on the slope between Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. This release is from the 2000 vintage, showing complex aromas of spices, game and a thin layer of red fruit. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with balanced acidity, carrying notes of black cherry, spice, liquorice and mushroom.
Good medium red. Knockout nose combines liqueur-like black cherry, black raspberry and strawberry with cooler floral and menthol elements. Dense, sweet and sappy; fleshy and pliant. Very harmonious, sophisticated grand cru, finishing with lush, buffered tannins and bright, subtle fruit and chocolate notes.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2003
