Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Cécile Tremblay is a relatively recent establishment, founded in 2003. Since its inception, the estate has adhered to biodynamic farming practices, with all grapes meticulously hand-harvested. Cécile has the privilege of working across 11 different appellations, including the Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin, the source of this particular release. The 2009 vintage remains highly appealing, revealing aromas of cherries, sweet berries, liquorice, and rose petals. Its full-bodied, rich, and fleshy palate is broad and enveloping, culminating in an expansive finish.

The 2009 Chapelle-Chambertin has come together beautifully since I last tasted it about six months ago. The personality of Chapelle is now beginning to emerge, as is the case with so many grand crus in this vintage. As beautiful and expressive as the fruit is today, there is also more than enough supporting structure to provide balance and a sense of harmony. I very much like the intensity and sheer personality of the Chapelle in 2009. Tremblay used 100% stems here. - Antonio Galloni
