The Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes Gilbert et Christine Felettig 2017 is a red Burgundy composed exclusively of Pinot Noir from ancient vines situated in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. The region`s clay-limestone soil plays a role in the wine`s character. Gilbert and Christine Felettign typically utilise a method that incorporates destemmed fruit and partial whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts. This vintage underwent 12-15 months of maturation in oak barrels, approximately 20-30% of which were new. The result showcases the distinct red berry and floral profile typical of Chambolle, underpinned by minerality and structure conducive to ageing.
Vinous
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from vines between 40 and 60 years of age, spread over three hectares. It has a pure, harmonious bouquet of lifted dark cherries and iodine aromas that are very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity and good substance, and the 30% new oak is deftly interwoven on the long, graphite-tinged finish. Do not overlook this. One of the best from the domaine. Neal Martin1st January 2019
