Originally founded in the 1930s, Sylvain Cathiard is a small, family-run estate situated in the commune of Vosne-Romanée. Following the retirement of Sylvain in 2011, the estate is now run by his son, Sébastien Cathiard. This particular release comes from a lieu-dit in Chambolle-Musigny where some of the oldest vines were planted in 1935. The grapes are 100% de-stemmed and the wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 50% new.

Aromas of orange zest, red fruit, petals and spices introduce the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Clos de l`Orme, a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy wine with lively acids and a pure, precise profile. - William Kelley
Vinous
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l`Orme showed just a bit of reduction on the nose, opening up gradually with crushed stone and raspberry/blackcurrant scents. The palate is well balanced with finely chiselled tannins, clean and precise with a vibrant finish. Superb. - Neil Martin - The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l'Orme showed just a bit of reduction on the nose, opening up gradually with crushed stone and raspberry/blackcurrant scents. Domaine Sylvain Cathiard

This small, family run domaine was first established in the commune of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy by Sylvain Cathiard’s grandfather. Since 2011, following the retirement of Sylvain, the domaine has been run by Sylvain's son, Sébastien Cathiard. Famed for the superb quality Pinot Noir it produces, the domaine has vineyard holdings across Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-St-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, in addition to tiny holdings in Clos Vougeot and Romanée-St-Vivant.

In the words of esteemed critic, Neal Martin, "“Do I need to tell you how much I adore Sylvain Cathiard’s wines? This is a seriously good quality producer of Vosne-Romanée, one whose star is in the ascendant. These are gloriously silky smooth, complex wines; not just with the top Premier Crus but down to the generic Burgundy. It’s the intensity and focus that set Cathiard apart, wines with supreme definition and purity that seduce the palate like a beautiful courtesan. I would love to taste his Grand Crus, but they are incredibly rare and sought-after. This producer comes highly recommended from top to bottom.”
