Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru is a red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits. This 2008 magnum is exclusively declassified fruit from the estate’s legendary Musigny Grand Cru vines that are younger than 25 years. By choosing not to label this as Grand Cru, the domain maintains a strict quality threshold for its flagship wine. The winemaking team employed traditional open-top fermenters and modest new oak to highlight the floral elegance and limestone-driven acidity of the site. In magnum, the 2008 vintage retains its characteristic energy and precise red-currant profile.

Vinous
Bright medium red. Higher-toned on the nose than the village wine, offering aromas of cherry, raspberry, spices and mint, lifted by menthol and anise. Suave and silky but youthfully tight, with its sweet fruit under wraps today. A piquant element of orange zest gives the firmly tannic finish a distinctly bracing quality. This is made from young vines in Musigny.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2011
