The Chambertin Domaine Dujac 2009 is an iconic Grand Cru red Burgundy sourced from the esteemed Chambertin vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. Domaine The 2009 vintage is marked by concentration and ripeness. Aged for 14 to 18 months in predominantly new oak, this wine reveals layers of red and black fruit alongside nuanced notes of spices and evolving complexity, suitable for extended cellaring, with potential maturation to 2044.

Magic appears in the form of the 2009 Domaine Dujac Chambertin Grand Cru. The Chambertin has traditionally been one of the hardest Dujac wines to find, although that has changed in recent years as some large (by Burgundy standards) lots have come onto the auction market. The 2009 is just phenomenal from the moment it is opened. Ripe and racy, in the style of the year, but not at all overdone, the 2009 is majestic in its bearing. I have been fortunate to taste the 2009 a few times recently. This is about as good as it gets in wine. Wow!

The 2009 Chambertin is flat-out stunning. It boasts gorgeous textural finesse and sheer energy from the very first taste. Blue and black fruit lead to spices, mint, licorice and tar as the wine explodes from the glass. Next to some of the other grand crus in the Dujac lineup, the Chambertin often comes across as quite obvious. Some of the wine’s subtler qualities emerge, but only over time. Layers of fruit crescendo to the palate staining finish. The Chambertin combines power and finesse to a degree seldom seen, even in Burgundy. This is pure sophistication. Anticipated maturity. 2024-2044. - Antonio Galloni

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
