Acquired by Jacques Seysses in 1967, Domaine Dujac is one of the very finest producers in Burgundy. The 2008 Chambertin Grand Cru is a wine of ethereal character. It opens with beguiling scents of blackcurrant, sage, liquorice and sous bois. On the palate it is exceptionally complex with filigree tannin, caressing texture and remarkable length.

Bright, deep ruby-red. Very closed but pure nose hints at black raspberry, iron, licorice, espresso and smoky oak. Dense and thick but also boasts terrific energy and lift. At once crunchy and very ripe, with superb intensity to the very unevolved middle palate. Outstanding energy and lift here but this will need time to expand. Finishes with lush tannins and great persistence. I'd like to follow this for the next 15 or 20 years.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2011

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
