Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Denis Mortet is a family-owned estate run by Laurence Mortet and her two children, Clémence and Arnaud. The Domaine was originally founded in 1956 by Charles Mortet with just a single hectare of vines to his name. This release comes from the prestigious Grand Cru Chambertin, where Mortet owns a 0.15-hectare parcel of 60-year-old vines. 2000 was an attractive vintage of fruit-forward, charming wines which are in their drinking window now.

Vinous
Deep red. Highly aromatic, nuanced nose highlights soil tones of vegetable matter, minerals and earth. Sweet, concentrated and very full, but in an aristocratic style for the vintage and not at all roasted. A suave wine with lovely vinosity and verve. Finishes very long, firmly tannic and subtle, with less oak showing than in Mortet's Clos Vougeot and Chambolle Beaux-Bruns.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2003
