From Chambertin-Clos de Bèze - one of the most prestigious vineyards of the Côte de Nuits - comes this 2003 release from Domaine Armand Rousseau. The wine displays a very expressive nose, including blackberries, black cherries, spices and earthy notes. The rich and full-bodied flavours are relatively supple yet wrapped in dense but fine tannins. It is ready to be enjoyed now but also capable of aging for a very long time.
90 Vinous
Good deep bright red. Enticing aromas of black raspberry, coffee, mocha and sexy oak. Then less exotic than usual for this wine at this early stage of its evolution: saline and savory, with notes of underbrush but not the normal India n spices. Perhaps a bit youthfully tight today. Quite restrained in its sweetness and not yet showing much complexity. Finishes with big, broad tannins and very good length.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005
