Certan Marzelle 2008 is a mature-vintage Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Certan Marzelle is the `garagiste` operation of Christian Moueix and uses 100% Merlot from a vineyard that was originally part of his flagship property, Certan-Giraud. On the 2008. "Made from 100% Merlot, this sexy Pomerol reveals a deep ruby/purple colour along with intense, pleasing, sweet raspberry, black cherry, and berry fruit notes, terrific purity, moderate to light tannin, and a fleshy, flamboyant personality. It should drink beautifully young, and evolve for 10-12 years." Robert Parker, 2009

Opaque ruby-purple. Perfumed, floral aromas of ripe red berries and cherry liqueur, nicely lifted by a hint of menthol. Rather sweet, creamy, ripe and large-scaled for 2008, with rich red fruit, milk chocolate and deep minerality buffering substantial, spreading tannins. There's real power lurking beneath the glossy ripe fruit. The most impressive young Certan Marzelle I recall tasting.
