Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2004 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Sangiovese red wine from the Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Casanova di Neri is one of the most respected estates in the Montalcino region. A pioneer of single-vineyard Brunellos, it is renowned for its muscular yet elegant modern style of Brunello. These wines are characterised by rich dark fruits, velvety tannins and refined oak. "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova reminds me of the 2001 vintage in that the wine appears to be at the beginning of its evolution. It feels like it still needs a few more years in the bottle. The wine`s appearance is beautiful. It showcases a dark garnet colour that captures and absorbs the ambient light. The bouquet is redolent of dark fruit nuances with extra layers of spice, smoke, liquorice and sweet tobacco." Wine Advocate, 2018

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova lifts from the glass with a wonderfully mature bouquet, blending earth tones and dried flowers with hints of tobacco, soy and dried blueberries. Silky textures verge on velvet as a whiplash of zesty acidity adds energy and masses of ripe red berry fruits settle upon the senses. It finishes incredibly fresh with a tart berry and citrus tinge and adolescent tannins that continue to hold on without hindering the 2004s energetic persona. While its bouquet shows a bit of its age, the Tenuta Nuova remains irresistible throughout.Eric Guido1st January 2025
