Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Antico 2008 is a mature Sangiovese red wine crafted in Montalcino, Tuscany. The estate, known for its commitment to traditional winemaking and organic practices, features galestro soils that enrich Sangiovese vines planted between 1970 and 2001. This wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks and is aged in oak barrels for three years. It displays concentration and a silky texture that delivers a long, persistent finish, with integrated, sweet tannins that make it rewarding to drink now while still offering the potential to age gracefully for many years.

Layers of dried cherries, tobacco, sweet herbs and spices wrap around the palate as Poggio Antico's 2008 Brunello di Montalcino opens up in the glass. Bright, saline notes give the wine its length and persistence, especially on the finish. A gracious, mid-weight wine, the 2008 is best suited to drinking over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2023.Antonio Galloni1st September 2013
