Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge 2017 is a medium-bodied red wine from the Burgundy appellation of France. Benjamin Leroux is a well-respected winemaker and wine producer based in the Côte de Beaune. After working as the winemaker for the esteemed Domaine Comte Armand for several years, he started his own label in 2007. Benjamin Leroux focuses on producing high-quality wines that showcase the terroir of Burgundy, with a particular emphasis on small production quantities and meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery. The racy, fine-boned 2017 Bourgogne Rouge comes from fruit that is mostly sourced from Volnay and Pommard, with smaller parts from the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and Monthélie.

The 2017 Bourgogne Rouge, which had been bottled under screwcap just 24 hours earlier, was still a little unsettled on the nose. The palate is balanced but straightforward, with slightly stiff tannin at the moment, and a strict, almost Morey-like finish. Hopefully it will develop more flesh with a few months in bottle.
