Hudelot-Baillet is a family-owned wine estate, currently run by Dominique Leguen, the son-in-law of Jöel Hudelot-Baillet. Leguen joined the Domaine from the air force in 1998 and has been in charge of winemaking since 2002. Their vineyards are found predominantly within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, although it produces a range of cuvées, from the Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares to entry-level Bourgogne Rouge. The 2021 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is a structured, full-bodied red wine that is ready to be enjoyed now.

Cask sample. Light to mid cherry red. Delightfully peppery, dark-red fruit. Fruity but without obvious fruit sweetness. Sweeter fruit on the palate but cut through by notable freshness. The tannins are polished but firm enough to hold the fruit at the centre. Surprisingly persistent, too. (JH)Julia Harding11th January 2023
Vinous
The 2021 Bourgogne Rouge is quite floral on the nose like the Passetoutgrain, with good definition, raspberry and mulberry scents gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine tannins. It puts on weight towards the bright finish. Lovely. Neal Martin5th January 2023
