Arnaud Ente and his wife, Marie-Odile, craft exquisite micro-production cuvées that easily rank amongst some of the finest in the region. This Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from young vines from Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault plant in 2002 and 2012, respectively. It opens with slight whiffs of smoky reduction but opens to reveal delicious notes of white orchard fruits, citrus oils, spring flowers and stoney minerality. Fleshy and medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it has great natural concentration, lively acidity and a wonderfully pure, mineral-tinged finish. A wine that completely belies its modest classification.

Tank sample. This comes from two vineyards in Puligny and one in Meursault. More Puligny because the yields are higher there.
Lean and lively with some matchstick. Great richness on the start and then it tightens up but it tastes much more like a village wine than a Bourgogne. Quite beefy with a menthol overlay. Masses to chew on. Almost fat. (JR)

Balance and Complexity

A leading light in Meursault, Burgundy, Arnaud Ente and his wife, Marie-Odile craft exquisite micro-production Burgundies that easily compete with the finest in the region. The Domaine owns four hectares which are managed with a very small and hands-on team. The key grape varieties here are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, used to produce stand out Meursault, Puligny Montrachet and Bourgogne Pinot Noir that are renowned for their precision and elegance.

The style has tended towards the opulent, with late picking for fuller ripeness being a key part of Arnaud's philosophy in the 1990s. More recently though the wines have presented with greater levels of freshness and minerality as the winemaking practices have changed and evolved.
