Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc 2009 is a mature-vintage Burgundy white wine from the Bourgogne appellation. Now led by Brice de la Morandière, Domaine Leflaive is one of the most influential estates in Puligny-Montrachet. The estate focuses almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay, including four Grand Cru and four Premier Cru expressions. This mature Bourgogne Blanc is from the excellent 2009 Burgundy vintage. "A notably ripe nose of pear and lemon nuances gives way to round, delicious and plump middle weight flavours that possess good intensity and good if not special precision on the lightly mineral-infused finish. A high-quality Bourgogne." Burghound, 2011

Quite a solid nose without much trademark Leflaive nervosité. Lots of rather simple fruit and acidity. Not the star that this wine sometimes is – in fact it tastes a little like a nervy Macon at this stage! No shortage of acidity but because of the ripeness it seems less tart than the 2008s (which actually have less acid, Eric Leflaive says). (JR)

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
