Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé 1999 is a distinguished Champagne, made only in exceptional years. This vintage is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, with 7% still red wine from the Aÿ vineyard, which gives it its delicate pink hue. The 1999 Rosé opens with a complex bouquet of red berries, dried fruits, and subtle notes of toasted brioche. On the palate, it is elegantly structured, offering rich, vibrant fruit flavours balanced by a fine mousse and refreshing acidity. The finish is long and refined, a testament to Bollinger’s commitment to quality and the Rosé’s impressive ageing potential

(disgorged March, 2008) Bright, copper-pink with a strong bead. Deep, musky aromas of blood orange, pear, white flowers and minerals. Fresh and focused on entry, quickly becoming more muscular and displaying chewy red berry and cherry flavors in the middle palate, with an exotic anise quality. The red fruits carry through the gently chewy finish, which is given energy by a jolt of tangy minerals. Josh Raynolds1st November 2008

Extremely pale. Just off dry. Particularly pretty, delicate and friendly. Very un-Bolly in fact! Recommended retail price £90. (JR)

A Classic Grande Marque

Synonymous with sophistication and quality, Champagne Bollinger was awarded the Royal Warrant as Official Purveyor of Champagne to Queen Victoria in 1884. From special cuvées and Rosé Champagnes, to rarely seen vintages, luxurious large formats and Recently Disgorged styles, this is a wonderful House to discover. Bollinger wines even have a close association with James Bond - and rare limited editions have been released in celebration of the films from Moonraker to No Time To Die.

The Bollinger vineyard covers 179 hectares, with 85% of these Grand and Premier Cru. One of the last family-run Champagne houses in the region, Bollinger is located in the village of Aÿ, near Épernay. A number of practices are key to the Bollinger approach: the majority of grapes used in the wines have to come from the Maison's own vineyards; Pinot Noir must play a dominant role in the blend; the role of micro-oxygenation from barrel fermentation; and long periods of bottle aging (two to three times longer than required).
