Bollenberg Pinot Noir 2019 by Valentin Zusslin is a medium-bodied Alsatian Pinot Noir from vines established in the 1960s and 70s. Nestled on the Bollenberg hill, near Orschwihr, this site benefits from a warm and dry microclimate. Registered as a natural reserve, it supports unique biodiversity and sustainable practices amongst its producers. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting to ensure quality before vinification. Zusslin`s commitment to tradition and terroir has positioned them as a notable producer, recognised for their nuanced expression of Alsace Pinot Noir.

Vinous
The 2019 Pinot Noir Bollenberg is harvested on iron-rich Jurassic limestone from around 20-year-old vines. Red, fleshy cherry is ripe and dark on the nose, almost with an overtone of caramel. The palate is equally full-fruited and bold with ripe red and black cherry. It’s very juicy and very energetic, countered by lively acidity and some heat. Tannins are dense and fine and chime beautifully with the bright acidity. Quite bold and still boisterous, this really needs to calm down and smooth out. There is a lot of stuffing and energy here to last the distance. (Bone-dry)
