Bellevue Mondotte 2008 is a Right Bank Bordeaux wine from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. Composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, it presents a complex profile marked by dark fruit aromas complemented by earthy undertones. The vineyard, Bellevue Mondotte, is known for its meticulous viticulture, overseen by the renowned Gérard Perse, who has transformed it into a prominent single estate. This magnum format enhances ageability, allowing the wine to develop further complexity over time.
94 Vinous
(90% merlot with 5% each cabernet franc and sauvignon): Saturated ruby. Musky aromas of dark fruits, coffee, mocha, chocolate and potpourri spices. Concentrated but classically dry, offering no easy sweetness today in spite of its great ripeness. Lush and deep but also quite penetrating. Perhaps most impressive today on the palate-staining back end, which features huge, broad tannins and a chewy impression of solidity.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2011
