Domaine Ramonet is undoubtedly one of the top producers of white wines in the Côte de Beaune. Established in the late 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, the estate is now run by Noël Ramonet and his brother Jean-Claude. This release comes from the Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet, where Ramonet owns approximately 0.6 hectares. This release from the millennial vintage is showing rich apple and pear fruit, tempered by sweet spices and hints of mint. An extremely concentrated wine with an expanding finish.

The most complete of these wines with a dash of each of them. Fresh, bright and beautifully detailed aromas of green apple and roasted nuts lead to massive, marvelously intense, muscular flavors of simply incredible complexity and palate staining force. Quite elegant and remarkably well balanced for such a massive wine and this delivers wave after wave of sappy extract on the seemingly never-ending finish. It never ceases to amaze me how Montrachet can be so big yet so light on the palate. A great Ramonet Montrachet.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003

The 2000 Batard-Montrachet offers apple and pear aromas as well as flavors. It is medium-bodied, exhibits good fat and volume in the attack and mid-palate, then tightens to a lean, linear finish. If this wine can overcome its drying acidity as it completes its elevage, it will be an excellent to outstanding wine. If not, it shall forever remain ungenerously hard.
