Based in Puligny-Montrachet, Paul Pernot is a family-owned estate known for producing classic Burgundy wines with pristine fruit. Paul Pernot established the Domaine in 1959 with approximately 10 hectares, most of which had been in the family for many generations. Their Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is one that receives consistently good reviews and the 2000 is no exception. Expect a powerful and elegant Chardonnay, with remarkable minerality and a long finish.

Vinous
Ripe, complex nose melds honey, hazelnut and sexy oak spices. Sweet and impressively rich; a bit heavier than the Bienvenue but with enough acidity to give it balance. Solidly structured wine, finishing with nutty oak and a firmness verging on tannic. There less of a quality difference between these two grand crus in 2000 than in 2001.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2002
