Barolo Vigna del Gris Conterno Fantino 2004 is a distinguished red wine from the esteemed Barolo region of Italy, crafted from Nebbiolo grapes. This vintage boasts a complex structure, with layers of tannins and balanced acidity that evolve gracefully over time. The Vigna del Gris vineyard, part of the Conterno Fantino estate, was established in the 1980s by cousins Claudio Conterno and Giovanni Fantino. The estate blends traditional techniques with modern practices, focusing on sustainable vineyard management. The 2004 vintage highlights the unique terroir of Monforte d`Alba, offering a wine with remarkable depth and ageing potential.

The 2004 Barolo Vigna del Gris is gorgeous. Sweet tobacco, autumn leaves, truffles, cedar, leather and spices all meld together in a super-expressive Barolo that is at the early part of its tertiary stage. Dark cherry, plum and spice-cake notes abound as the 2004 continues to open up in the glass. Today, the 2004 is peaking, but it should continue to drink well for another 5-10 years.
