Barolo Falletto Giacosa 2021 presents a distinctive expression from one of Barolo`s esteemed producers, Bruno Giacosa. This vintage exhibits notable characteristics of cherry, violet and earthy undertones, reflecting the terroir of the Falletto vineyard. The wine`s structure is pronounced, offering a typical tannin profile that suggests potential for ageing. The estate of Bruno Giacosa has consistently maintained its high quality since first bottling its own wines in the 1960s.

You feel the signature of an elegant vintage in the superbly direct and focused Bruno Giacosa 2021 Barolo Falletto. This beautiful wine offers bright berry fruit, blue flower and crushed stone. This is a complete wine, with aromatic intensity that is matched to the depth of mouthfeel and structure. We can expect a red label Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche from the 2020 vintage to be released in 2026 and a 2021 edition to be released in 2027. That will certainly be something to look forward to. The Riserva was previously made in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017. - Monica Larner

A rich, explosive wine, the 2021 Barolo Falletto is heady from the first taste. Spice, menthol, licorice, camphor and dried herbs infuse the palate with captivating depth and nuance. This opens beautifully with time in the glass, showing all the power and regal intensity these wines were once known for. Best of all, the 2021 will drink well with minimal cellaring, as the tannins are already quite polished. Superb. Antonio Galloni28th October 2025

Piedmonte Pioneers

Born in 1945, Bruno Giacosa began working at his father's wine cellar at the age of 16. Without formal training, Bruno rose to become one of Italy's greatest winemakers, producing some of Piedmont's most iconic reds. Producing both Barolo and Barbaresco, Bruno focussed heavily on sourcing fruit from the finest crus in the area. The estate only began building up vineyard holdings in the early 1980s and today have around 20 hectares under vine.

Bruno passed away in 2018 and since then the winery has been managed by his daughter Bruna who continues the traditional of careful winemaking and terroir-focussed grape selection. Since 2012 the winery have produced Barolo and Barbaresco entirely from estate-grown fruit. In extra special vintages a red-label Reserva is bottled, representing the very peak of fine Piedmontese winemaking. The purity of the fruit is the primary concern the team at Giacosa, ageing takes place in large, untoasted inactive barrels for around 20 months.
